How YouTube helped my self-esteem.

Towards the end of 2019 I decided I wanted to do YouTube. Start my own channel. Bought a budget Sony camera to capture the moments. I thought myself how to use Openshot, the video editing tool. And my journey on YouTube began. I started posting videos on cooking, shopping, videos on my cats. And obviously, you cannot limit your videos to just speaking random things on camera. I took ideas from other youtubers, from major to small youtubers. Knowing the difference and understanding who was missing out on what. On how some executed the best video from the rest.

I just started small, I am still small to be honest. Reviewing products from skin care to best buys from amazon, at least gets the basic tasks done. I started posting cooking video, from my small kitchen space. Believe me, when I say this recording, a video is not that easy as it is turned out to be. I realised that day, so much of work is put in, so much of effort, so much of creativity and the part of video editing is the work of a true artist. The end result being a beautiful masterpiece. I am sure each youtuber thinks their work is a work of art. What makes it worth it is the audience, which with their viewing time, bring in true meaning to the hard work and value effort that is put in it. Nonetheless, I observed that the youtubers would move a step a had vlogging on the move while shopping and doing collab videos, inviting fellow youtubers into their space. This brings in more audience for the versatile captures and spontaneity of speech while communicating with one another.

Let me elaborate on the kind of person I am. I am a shy, reserved, all to myself kind of a person. To have been able to put myself in front of the camera, requires a push, an encouragement and a plan overall. One fine day I thought to myself I need to put myself in this frame and mindset, to see how I actually perform. It took almost ten takes. Until I was happy with how I presented myself in front of the camera and the way I expressed myself overall. It requires actual hands-on practice on the camera to realise that parts of clips recorded from the introduction of the video, the things presented in the video (which can have sub parts) and the goodbye with a side note of subscribe to my channel. All this is then put to together to result in the final video.

While recording a video one should be relaxed. A calm and a well sorted self is able to express and present the details of the video in a way that can educate and allure the audience. I for one had to write a script, practice what I would speak and then record the whole thing. It took videos of practice. Once you are comfortable and well adjusted with the idea, it comes naturally. It becomes instinctive and intuitive, through your observation and study of other videos and through yourself as an element in the video.

The shaving my face video with a traditional razor has got many views. It holds such authenticity in that particular video. With the condition of PCOS I have facial hair growth and so that was a thing during the time, that I Should post video of shaving my face the traditional way. Which followed other videos like at home laser hair removal devices, waxing etc. The audience reacting to your videos and familiarizing to the condition that you’re going through gives you support and encouragement to do what you do. That’s what motivated me to post more videos. I have a total of 138 videos on my channel. For now, I am on a break from posting any further videos. However, I should post a video soon.

What I learned from my videos is scripting, planning, and being as vocal and as expressive as possible. Your video editing skills should be precise and alluring to the audience who are into certain thematic and niches. I for one do not really have niche but I open to all possibilities. The point is to continue to post videos. Currently I am using InShot app on android my phone for editing on my fingertips. I find this method of editing much more convenient and easier with the inbuilt filters, effects and other editing tools. I have gained experience through trial, error and practice. Of course, YouTube itself has made it so much easier with the tutorials and hands-on practical videos. I continue to learn so much more on YouTube. The knowledge I gain, I present it in my videos to tutorials, cooking and reviews. Whether certain items are worth it or not.

Basically, I would end this post by stating that self-study is important. Learning and experiencing new thing is vital. These experiences are what counts, resulting in a boost in your confidence. You become cognizant of what you say because they are backed by all the valid reasons and specifications of things in existence.

Until next time, please follow to extend your support, while I continue to post such content.🙂❤️🙏
