THE SENSICA SENSILIGHT PRO - At Home Laser Device Part II

In continuation to my previous post. Let’s dive in to my venture of finding the best hair reduction tool/device. Although Amazon has a variety to choose from and might I say cheaper options. I tried to research on the brands that were made available. Now the criteria for a perfect at home laser device is ease of use, FDA certification, national or possibly global rating on a certain product, lastly easy on the pockets. Keeping all this in mined, I found no close match, except one. That was the Philips Lumea Prestige cordless IPL device which was priced at Rs. 75,000/-. I watch YouTube I see people raving about this device, I read reviews andratings while researching on Google and the reviews are great. Don’t get me wrong I am personally a big fan of Philips. I have owned an mp3 player, a stereo speaker and even an epilator from the brand. They make some premium quality gadgets and devices, but for this price point it seems insignificant to proceed with the purchase.

Upon researching a little further I came across a British based site, Currentbody, that offered international shipping via UPS. So there a wide range of beauty devices and tools offered on this site. From Braun Venus IPL, Philips Lumea Prestige, to other not so known brands. The one that caught my eye was the Tria 4x Laser and Sensica Sensight Pro. I did buy both the devices. And although it seems reckless and an impractical to purchase the two devices. I had my reasons. Which will be best understood once I review each of these. The Tria 4x Laser works as a mini clinical laser, which will be explained in detail in my next blog post. Today we will take on the the topic of Sensica Sensilight Pro.

The Sensica Sensilight Pro in shape design and form factor is quite similar to the Philips Lumea Prestige and it cost me half the price around Rs. 36000/-, inclusive of the tax imposed on the import (Read the Indian tax laws and strictly abide by it 🙂). As I have mentioned it is quite similar to the the built and structure of Philips Lumea Prestige, it has six intensity levels to choose from level one to level six. And frankly I found it worked best on level six, as I have really thick hair growth and I want fast and effective results.

What all do you get in the box? There is the main device, the main head attachment head with a wide window flashing capacity attached to the device and a narrow attachment head which is interchangeable at the time of use in small target areas like for instance the upper lip area or your chin or the sides of your face. Besides this there is a charger, a warranty card, user manual and a pouch to store the device. The box is sturdy enough as a case for the device.

The question here is how does it feel on the skin? It is the same as your hand at close proximity to a heated bulb. So the light flash heat is bearable on the skin and FDA approved, which means it is safe on the skin. Although it is recommended that an SPF based cream be applied post use of the device on the targeted area.

How does the device work? It has charging facility, so you can use it on cordless mode. The device has a on and off power button, a plus and minus button and a green light indicator to set the level from the numbers displayed on the device that is 1,2,3,4,5,6. Once the level is set, there is a big button towards the inside curve on the handle of the device to flash the on the targeted area. Upon continuous press of the button on three flashes it goes on automatic mode, releasing flashes without having to press the button again throughout the target area. It ahs a similar mechanism to the Smooth Skin Bare+ where the flash window has a smart sensor to detect the skin that is, once the skin is fully encased in the window the back-lit light turns green, if not then red, this restrains the device from flashing like a laser tag. This according to me is again a safety feature.

The only differences here is that the Smooth Skin Bare+ is corded and the Sensica Sensilight Pro is cordless. And although the Smooth Skin Bare+ identifies itself as an IPL device which stands for Intense Pulsed light, Sensica Sensilight Pro identifies to a RPL device which stands for Reactive Pulsed Light. The whole understanding of Reactive Pulsed Light should not be misunderstood to any form of radiation emanating concept. The mechanism and concept is the same with regard to both the devices.

The usability of the Device as shown on the box

What I liked about the device?

  • That it is a cheaper yet a cost effective alternative to the Philips Lumea Prestige.
  • The wide flash window to cover a bigger target area, getting the work done in few minutes.
  • The cordless mode, for easy and effective use of the device
  • FDA certification.
  • Warranty Period of 2 Years.
  • The 4.5 to 5 ⭐ rating compelled my purchase.

Con:

The only and a tiny con here is the flash rate is comparatively reduced overtime once the charge is slightly reduced.

Rating: 4.5/5

Overall the device is effective and with once in 4 weeks use one should see results.
